What we collect, why, who can see it, and how to delete it — in plain language.
Effective July 21, 2026 · This is the same Privacy Policy shown and accepted inside The Fishing GOAT app.
We collect what the app needs to run fishing tournaments and a fishing community — nothing more. Your exact fishing spots are never shown publicly. We do not sell your data and we do not run targeted advertising.
Account information: your email address, username, display name, and birth date (used once to verify you are 18 or older; stored privately).
Profile information you choose to add: home state, bio, favorite species, fishing style, profile photo, links to your social media accounts, and — for guide or store accounts — the business details you enter.
Content you create: catch photos, tournament entries and results, feed posts, comments, lobby chat messages, likes, follows, and private journal entries.
Location: when you submit a tournament catch with location enabled (required only for Ranked tournaments), we store the coordinates in a private record used solely for catch verification. Journal map pins are stored in your private journal. Neither is ever displayed to other users. We derive general weather conditions (temperature, wind, moon phase) from catch locations; weather is shown publicly, coordinates are not.
Technical data: push-notification tokens (if you enable notifications on a supported build) and standard service data processed by our infrastructure provider, Google Firebase.
To run tournaments (scoring, verification, leaderboards, anti-cheat), to operate social features (feed, profiles, follows, notifications), to maintain community safety (moderation, dispute review), and to show fishing conditions on catches. That is the complete list.
Public: your profile (display name, username, photo, state, bio, titles, badges, stats, crowns, business details you add), your posts and comments, approved tournament catches (photo, species, length), tournament results, and leaderboard positions.
Private — never visible to other users: your email, birth date, exact catch coordinates, journal entries and pins, and your notification history.
Your data is stored and processed by Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage, and server functions), acting as our service provider. We do not sell personal information, share it with advertisers, or use it for targeted advertising. We may disclose information if required by law.
You can edit your profile at any time, delete your own posts and journal entries, and delete your entire account from the Profile tab inside the app — deletion permanently removes your profile, private data, journal, posts, and login. Catches that are part of finished tournament records may be retained in anonymized form to preserve other participants’ results.
Step-by-step deletion instructions are on our Delete Account page.
The Fishing GOAT is for adults 18 and older residing in the United States (including U.S. territories). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we will remove it.
If this policy changes materially, you will be asked to review and accept the new version in the app. Questions or requests: use the contact form on our Support page.
